There are these two guys, or may it is just one, coming actually apparently from Russia or near by, who act very strangely. He/she signs to my forum, change its password and do nothing else. Dont post, don't stay in the forum apparently, don't spam, nothing at all really 🙂
That happen once and I didn't pay much attention to it
But the very next day some1 else with similar characteristics also signed on my forum and acted just the same. Doing nothing basically
Couple of days after, I went just for good to check into their profile and in both there are some sort of images, or text, or whatever, like advertising, regarding fishing I believe as its all in Russian 🙂
So I remove them both from the front end. One of them signed again, I delete it again and today he is back again 🙂
So I got several questions really:
1 - what could be the intention? I mean, that people do nothing wrong at all apparently, they just put some sort of link/adverts on their profile
2 - how can I ban them permanently?
3 - If I ban them permanently, what its the ban according to?, its to their email address?, cos if so, all they need to do is to sign with a new email address, correct?

This is not related to wpForo but to Wordpress. You can install one of the several security plugins and block most of it. You can't ban everything. You will always have that, no matter what. You can't for example block MANUAL registrations. You can block bots only.
But if they do not post or harm you, why do you care?
I didnt new this got nothing to do with this plugin Dimalifragis, I thought any forum plugin would bring it's own system...
You right, it's not only that I dont care but also they increase my members number 🤣, but again, not knowing much about this, I even thought if could they be trying to harm me in any way? No that there is nothing to be harm as far as I could imagine LOL
But if Itry to put myself on their situation, just by curiosity, what could they be looking for?. I mean, to take the bother to go through a registration process just to put a link in their profile.....?
They are looking to post for spam, create profile signature and rarely to hack you. But all those things are for Wordpress to prevent and take care.
Everything that has to do with Register, Login, Email is handled by Wordpress. wpForo is just "using" those functions or provide forms for ease.
So catch those people at the doorstep, using some security plugin for login protection or generall security.

As I just come after getting the notification email, I saw, for the very 1st time on my life, some notice saying: (I didnt have the time to read it all...)
"Anticrowling system is activated in your IP... or something like it...
Do you know what is this all about? Many of this stuff it's all new to me
As a curiosity, the other day, while browsing a forum of this forum member, out of nowhere and for not apparent reason I got a message from said forum telling me "You been banned from this forum"
I went then almost shock as I done nothing wrong, and now out of nowhere I saw this message on this forum too... (the message I'm telling you about avove)
