Im having a heck of a time getting MemperPress to properly work with WPForo. I do have the plugin and credential-wise its working as intended, but things are not working properly with secondary usergroups.
1. I have Additional usegroups selected in MemberPress Advanced tab so when a user signs up for a membership they are in the default Subscriber role but also a premium WP User Role such as "Silver".
2. I set up an additional usergroup in WPForo "Silver" and map/synch it to "Silver" role in the WP side of things. The secondary usergroup is being used as a "tag" on the forums so when users are premium members, the usergroup displays under their name as "Silver" and so on to give them public credit and also help me track and identify who's who on the front end and who might have improper access.
3. When the MemberPress membership expires and drops the "Silver" secondary usergroup on the user so they are back to just being a Subscriber, its not also getting dropped on the secondary usergroup status on the WPForo side. In the User Profile for an expired membership on a user, "Additional roles" is blank as it should be, but down at the bottom under the WP Foro secondary usegroups area, "Silver" is still checked. Credential-wise things are working because the plugin is looking up the expired membership for the user and denying access, but the secondary usergroup remains which means on the front end under a person's name when they post, it still shows them as a "Silver" member when they are no longer a Silver member.
Ive been at this for 2-3 weeks trying to get things to work properly. Ive deleted caches, re-synched etc.
Hi @udpride,
1. Please don't delete default usergroups (moderator, guest, registered)
2. Don't change the name of the Guest usergrup, it must be the usergroup with #4 ID. The guest usergroup is designed for not-registered users (visitors).
3. Don't use usergroups for MemperPress. You should use wpForo - MemberPress Integration. This addon allows you to set corresponding forum access to each Membership. So your content restriction will be based on Membership Plan <> Forum Access connection. In this case User role <> Usergroups synchronization will not have any role.
1. Did not.
2. Did not.
Im using the MemberPress plugin. But I want all my paid members to be "tagged" in WPForo as paid members under their names to give them credit and one (only?) way to do this was to add them to a secondary user role through MemberPress (i.e. "Silver" or "Gold"), create the same usergroups names in WPForo and synch them up. But it never worked right.
Without any tagging under the persons name in WPForo I cant look and get a quick glance at might be accessing premium content without having to look them up on the back-end. That's impractical.
Here's my BIG feature request for the MemberPress integration plugin: add the option to use the MemberPress membership name as a tag under the user's name when they post so they get credit for being a paid member and admins can quickly see who has premium membership and who does not. There might be a case where a membership doesnt work right and someone is in an area they shouldnt be. This front-end tag would help. Plus the users just love beiing publicly recognized as being paid members to a web site to show their commitment.
