@robert

my developer was looking into this and this is what he said:

my finding is that there is a query string in wpforo that gets the forum child that's probably not workin in mysql newer version

the query string is inside the get_childs function under class-forums.php

I tried a new query approach and it worked.. but I reverted the changes at the moment because wpforo team you contacted might still be working on it

on my localhost, I installed two versions of mysql..
one is the latest which is 8.0.22 which HP is also using
the other is 5.7.24.I run the same query using the two versions.. the older version works and the new one doesn't
this is from 8.0.22 version of MySQL- https://www.screencast.com/t/3sf6WnaX2
this is from an older version of MySQL - https://www.screencast.com/t/EutU6I7WbuRE

so not sure if any of this is related?

@mikes1,

Ok, thank you for the information. We've found the issue, and we're fixing it now. I'll provide some solution soon.

@mikes1,

If you can downgrade the MySQl to 5.7 please do that, the MySQL 8 is not supported yet.

wpForo will support MySQL 8 with the next version. We'll release the next version by the end of this month.
