Thanks - It says 86 in members  - they say active - in fact, they may be users but they should not have access to the forums as they are not in any of the user groups.

They are customers or subscribers, both of which do not have permission to be part of the forum area.

I'd recommend delete them.

It doesn't matter they have access to forum or not. wpForo members system is based on WordPress users system so it displays users count.

i just deleted them - now all my users are gone!!! ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!  I thought it would just delete the members from the forums!
