Hi,

I am trying to setup a closed forum and i have the below questions please:

This is the url of the forum: https://cyprusktos.research.org.cy/

1. Registration is enabled from the settings, however the user is not redirected to login/register when he tries to add a topic or a reply. Shouldn't there be any pages created for login and registration?

2. How do i make this forum a closed one. I mean users should be login to before entering it.

3. How can i add members to the forum?

4. How can any topic creation and reply to be moderated before being public?

That's it for now. Thank you so much in advance!

Hi @mike_netinfo,

1. Let's start from the Forum on Homepage setup.

First remove forum from your home page, how you have done it. So the Forum would be set as default. Then Navigate to Dashboard > wpForo > Boards, edit the board and enable "Turn WordPress to This Board" option.

Now your Forum Link would work without issues.

2. About Private Forum.

Check this Doc about it, and note that the Accesses Tab's path mentioned in the doc has changed to Dashboard > wpForo > Accesses.

https://gvectors.com/how-to-set-up-private-forum/

3. About adding members to the Forum.

wpForo by its self doesn't have users, WordPress Users are also wpForo users(wpForo uses WP users)

So you just need to create a new WP users.

4. How can any topic creation and reply to be moderated before being public?

Navigate to Dashboard > wpForo > Usergroups, edit the Needed Usergroup and Disable "Front - Can pass moderation" option. Then Navigate to Dashboard > wpForo > Settings  > Spam Protection, and Enable "Posts must be manually approved"

@chris Hi and thanks for the reply!

All points understood except fro mthe 1st one. I did as you instructed.

I removed the shortcode from home page and added it in a different page => https://cyprusktos.research.org.cy/forum/

I also changed the access for Guests and Customers to No access (disabled everything for that access type).

When trying to access the forum as a guest, shouldn;t eveything be hidden and just show the login screen?

Note: Forum is under no category.

thanks again!

Navigate to Dashboard > wpForo > Boards, edit the board and enable "Turn WordPress to This Board" option.

Did you enable this option?

Let's finish this part and then see what you have after it.

Hi,

Yes, that option is enabled. From what i can see, only thing that changes is that it stretches the layout to the edges as you can see here : https://cyprusktos.research.org.cy/cyprusktos/

thanks

@mike_netinfo,

It depends on your theme, Check Twenty Twelve theme, I Like it for Standalone Forums.

@chris

Hi. Thanks for the reply. I guess i can handled the appearance of the page. But what about the restriction of the forum to the closed members only? Should not user see just a login screen when visiting the url https://cyprusktos.research.org.cy/cyprusktos/ ? And when logged in they should be able to add topics and reply to existing topics.

Thanks

@mike_netinfo,

wpForo can't hide the page only the Categories and Forum by the Access.

You will need other plugin which won't let the guest user to see the website until login/reg.
