I have a custom wp-foro plugin that handles a bunch of small things on wpForo on my site.
I just added a module to that plugin that cleans up the wpforo quoting feature. Visually the user seeing a cleaner interface, but when submitted the code changes to the actual wpForo format.
Basically this removes the potential BBCode issues and accidental breaking of HTML if a user edits within a quote. It also identifies the user your are quoting much better by using their name instead of their user ID.
Unfortunately this is part of a larger custom plugin, so nothing I can really share. Note that when you edit a post, it will completely revert to the current bbcode system.
