Hi @kraisor,
There is an option to make user posts approved after x number of posts. There is an option to allow users to add links and attach files after x number of posts. All Antispam options are located in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Antispam Tab. But before checking these options please read this support topic and make sure you've done all steps of the Spam protection:
For me, all new users have to have their first 2 posts approve manually by admin. I also have all members need 3 posts to edit profile, and over 20 posts to post a link.
Then, I use Clean talk, this has kept a huge amount of Spam away from my forum. Its very rare i see those kinds of posts now. Try it out mate. You can get awhol eyears cover for like $5, very cheap, very good.
With those two thing sin place, you shouldn't see much Spam. And even if you do, the members of your forum wont see it because you need to approve it first. Then you just delete th ...

90% of Spam CAN be blocked BEFORE registering/loging in. It is wrong to try to fight Spam and profile Spam, AFTER a user has registered. A waste of time.
I assume you are in the same situation, we are having trouble with the remaining 10%.
For example, if we have 30 Spam registrations daily on our forum, even if we successfully block 27 of them, if we miss 3, those 3 will post a lot of Spam.
I will try the plugin you mentioned tomorrow.
Thanks for your assistance, I appreciate it.We are counting on your advice.
@robert Do you mean that Akismet + Anti Spam by CleanTalk (paid) is Akismet Anti-Spam is created by Automattic+Anti Spam by CleanTalk (paid)?
Or only Anti-Spam by CleanTalk?
They block the Spam, can they block the register?
We use reCAPTCHA + Akismet + Anti Spam by CleanTalk (paid). This trio stops 99% of Spam. Only human Spam can post a topic in our forum. Maximum 1-2 Spam post per day, and all those topics and posts become unapproved automatically, so nobody sees their Spam topics. We remove them (delete user with all content) manually.

Hi@dallaz,
Please note, that the user registration process doesn’t have a direct relation to wpForo. You can disable wpForo and the Spam users will continue to register. This is a core WordPress function. WordPress has made lots of opportunities to prevent Spam registration, almost all also work for wpForo. You can search for “stop Spam registration in WordPress” in google and follow results.
wpForo has its own antispam functions. In Dashboard > Forums > Tools admin page, you can find built-in reCAPTCHA API. I recommend configure and enable wpForo re ...

Hi @gav,
I'm sorry but I'd not be able to explain the whole Spam controlling mechanism.
Not all topics and posts become Unapproved. Only Spam suspected entries are going for moderation. Spam suspicion level can be decreased in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Antispam admin page to something like this: Spam Suspicion Level for Topics: 30 Spam Suspicion Level for Posts: 40
Here is an article on "How to Disable Topics and Posts Moderation in wpForo", please check it out.
I haven't changed any setting, I just updated to 1.5.5, so therefore:
1. wpForo Spam Control is enabled. -- It was and it still is.
2. user is New (under hard Spam control) during first X posts option's value is not 0. -- It was always 1 (one) and it still is.
3. also, I'd recommend increasing Spam suspicion levels... -- It is irrelevant with regards to "New user hard Spam control". Hard Spam control should work regardless of what the suspicion levels are. That's why it's "hard".
Hi ignus,
Please navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Tools admin page. Make sure:
1. wpForo Spam Control is enabled.
2. user is New (under hard Spam control) during first X posts option's value is not 0.
3. also, I'd recommend increasing Spam suspicion levels: Spam Suspicion Level for Topics Spam Suspicion Level for Posts
only topics/replies that fall below the Spam
That's very hard to differ Spam content. So the Spam suspicion is not 100% accurate. Some non-spamy topics and posts of new registered users can also be marked as unapproved. New registered user level can be set in Dashboard > Forums > Tools admin page. You can set it "1" (min number of post to track user as new registered user).
Also you can decrease Spam suspicion level on the same admin page and set them e.g. 10 / 10
You should keep enabled the "Can pass moderation" permission for users and Install Ak ...
The only thing that stops having to moderate 90% of new posts is turning off ALL Spam protection.
To test, I deactivated and completely deleted Akismet. I turned off wpForo Spam detection. Then waited. All posts went through without any moderation by me. That's great, but now I have no Spam protection.
I then turned on wpForo Spam protection with suspicion levels both set to 0. Suddenly I had to moderate almost everything again. There are no other Spam protections installed at this time.
Now what do I do?
