Hey all...

Just got a suggestion here...

wpForo is great, but the UI is lot behind wpDiscuz comment, especially on mobile. Currently running wpDiscuz v7 beta, and the UI is amazing.

One of the major advantage of Discourse forum is the UI on mobile. But gvectors has an advantage to offer even better UI to wpForo, thanks to wpDiscuz.

Now, i don't know if the integration of wpDiscuz into wpForo is possible as I am not a dev. But I believe it is, if your team are willing to give it a shot. In my idea, the integration could be developed and sold as addon for wpForo, at least to cover development time and cost.

This is my opinion, and I believe many out there might think like wise, so don't forget to drop a supporting reply to the thread. I also added an image below placing the mobile view of wpForo, Discourse and wpDiscuz comment side by side.

We'll improve the UI on mobile for sure. But it'll never look like to wpDiscuz and to other forum plugins.

You can try the Threaded Layout and you'll see better URL. The issue on gVectors Forum is only related to Simplified and Extended layout, and those are already fixed in next wpForo 1.7.1 version.

Here you see the Threaded Layout and it looks different on mobile. It looks better:

@robert I agree with OP's suggestion. It would be great to integrate with WPdiscuz which is the best comment plugin ever.

For example, as a different threaded layout, it would be great if wpdiscuz is a comment style on the WPforo. I know this is a special type of posts which is different from Wpdiscuz system, but it needs that comment system on the threaded forum like Reddit(Main OP's box size is much bigger than replies room)

@zmgma,

What weighty different you see between the Threaded Layout and wpDiscuz? Could you please explain? The threaded layout is designed to look like a comment thread.

@robert Thank you for your reply.

First, this WPforo threaded Layout has kind of post layout,

The comment's box size is the same as the OP's box size.

In comment thread like Reddit, the box size is smaller than this. The main is the first created post. I merged WPforo post with WPdiscuz, and the layout is like this,

Second, to offer better UI and UX for users regarding uniformity.

If the forum's comment design is the same as the post's comment system, it can provide a better UI and UX to users. You can aim for synergy between two plugins: WPFORO and Wpdiscuz. It can strengthen the dominance on the WordPress forum and comment plugin.

Thirdly, I would like the "Leave a reply" box to come up, not under the comments, for active discussion.

This is my suggestion so far. I hope WPforo make an additional style of threaded style.

Thank you for your support, Robert. I always appreciate it 🙂

No, it's not real. I'm sorry, but there is no way to do this at the moment.

@zmgma,

So I see just a left padding and a reply editor under the first post. These are not so much. And these can be very easy customized. I think you're just trying to get the identical Reddit style. And it can be done with a few changes in the Threaded Layout.

Thank you for your reply. Yes left padding and a reply editor under the first post, plus the same as WPdiscuz editor and design.

WPFORO style                         vs     With WPdiscuz design

It would be hard to integrate with WPdiscuz, I know, however, it would be really great and a big impact on Wordpress ecosystem.

Thank you 🙂

Thank you for your feedback. But we're really sorry this is impossible at the moment. wpDiscuz is a post based comment plugin, it requires custom post type. wpForo is not based on custom post types so it's something impossible to do. We may add those two features which was required in the threaded layout in future but the comment layout integration cannot be done. The topic is closed.
