I'm deciding whether or not to adopt WPForo.

The streamlined look of the Simplified Layout is what will meet the needs of my group members.

But once the conversations get going, they are going to expected threaded replies.

I've experimented with the Threaded Layout, and it's waaaaaay too busy/complicated for my peeps.

Is it possible to use the Simplified Layout with threaded replies  (not the entire Threaded Layout)?

Hi @cherigregory,

Thank you for your interest in wpForo and for contacting us.

If your develope you can du this customization by yourself. The update safe way of such customization is described here: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/forum-themes/theme-customization/

If not you should use either Simplified or Threaded layouts.

I'm glad to hear there's an option to create a custom hybrid!

I'm not a developer, and my regular tech person is off work for a couple of weeks. Can you recommend a developer who is familiar with WPforo who could do this for me?

I'm really sorry, but we don't have custom development services. I think it's easier to find devs at  https://www.freelancer.com/

I'd also suggest you check out the Extended layout. It's a classic forum layout with unique features. More info here: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/categories-and-forums/forum-layouts/extended-layout/

I was able to customize the Simplified Layout (#2) using these directions https://wpforo.com/docs/root/forum-themes/theme-customization/&source=gmail&ust=1564702684827000&usg=AFQjCNFkv3QLo1Epo53KHYgMjVGl1-5M6 A"> https://wpforo.com/docs/root/forum-themes/theme-customization/  and copying post-thread.php and post.php from Threader Layout (#4) into my theme's folder.

The threading works--however, the javascript doesn't seem to operate well as I'm unable to hide replies on lower sections of the threads (see the issue in action here when you attempt to hide the 1, 2, or 3 reply sections: https://sensitiveandstrong.com/community/5-key-qualities/key-quality-5-sensing-the-subtle/%23post-31&source=gmail&ust=1564702684827000&usg=AFQjCNGlpgum5qOCl80sLn5YTufbAUrlm g"> https://sensitiveandstrong.com/community/5-key-qualities/key-quality-5-sensing-the-subtle/#post-31 )
