I created a page that uses a shortcode corresponding to a 'category' forum. The categories and topics are displayed as expected. However the sidebar is empty.
When I select a forum the sidebar is populated up as expected.

Please leave a screenshot of the widget settings from backend. Make sure the filter per forums are not enaled.
@robert Sorry for my late response. I missed the email notification that I had a reply to my question.
I did have the filter for current forum checked. when i unchecked it i was able to see the list of recent posts.
I had hoped that the check box for recent posts would restrict the list of posts to those forums represented on the page.
Is there any way to include a parameter in the wpforo short code that would restric the recent posts to what was specifified in the item specified in the short code?
