My forum has gotten huge over the past several years. It's running slow. The database for the forum is close to 1.5gb. How can I archive older posts that are weighing down the system? That's a pretty standard feature in most forums, yet I can't find any info on how to do it with WPForo.

I also have this need and am being asked by my users how this can be done.

Hi @jvallano,

I'm really sorry but there is no such feature in wpForo. We'll add it in our to-do list for future releases.

Seeking same features, I see that the last reply suggested some future update will help us facilitate this operation.

That reply is over 6 months ago and I'm still not finding any solutions or added features in your forum that addresses this issue at present.

Is this truly something you are intending to include with a future release or update, or is this a common reply to requests from end users?

@seachat,

I'm really sorry but this is not planned in next 1-2 upcoming versions. We're getting dozens of new feature requests every day. If you count the total number within last 6 months or even within more time period (since wpForo exists, about three years) you'll see the number of items in our to-do list. Also, you can check wpForo changelog and see how many features we've added during the last 6 months. https://wordpress.org/plugins/wpforo/#developers

Some features, like this, have not requested by many users. We add new features in plugin updates  based on the number of asking users. At the moment "Topic and Post Archiving" feature is the 75th in our to-do list. And this is not an easy and quick feature that we could add it as an exception.

If you need this feature urgently you can contact to our gVectors Custom Development team via sales[at]gvectors.com email address. They'll assess the work and let you know how much it can cost for you as a custom addon.

@martin thank you for your replies and suggestions. I didn’t fully appreciate that WPforo is still relatively early on in development, and you are wise to focus your development budget working on what most feel are needed.

I’ll keep an eye out for future developments and perhaps return to WPforo when it’s more suited to our needs.

kind regards

Scott

@martin There are actually several users that have requested the ability to "retire" or archive categories and forums. It's actually quite surprising wpForo doesn't have this functionality. It's also a glaring oversight that there's no way to download/backup individual forums and categories. These features would add a TON of value and frankly, shouldn't be that difficult to program.
