I have checked and discovered how to hide the names of the various forums but I cannot find a way to remove the name of the entire forum site on the forum front page .../community
Is there a way to remove if from inside wpforo or do I have to find another way to hide it e.g. the page?

Don't you mean the Forum Page Title? If so, just navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Features Tab, disable the "Show Forum Page Title" option. More info here: https://wpforo.com/docs/root/wpforo-settings/features/
