I wanna know if there's an option for the user once the user has registered to request access to a certain category to be able to write questions or post on it. Is that possible??

Couldn't you setup a new user role called something like "Exclusive" and then assign it the same abilities as reader, but then limit viewing that forum to just that role, moderators and Admins?

Just a thought, I haven't tried it myself.

You can do whatever you want. wpForo has a rich forum access and usergroup permission system. Even more, there is a secondary usergroup feature that can add new permissions to existing usergroup. I recommend you read the following topics:
