I'm glad to know my Spam Shield is set to STUN!

I'll turn it off temporarily so you can see what I mean.

Thank you!

No spam from me or the country i'm currently in (Greece). Apparently you are blocking people and that is bad. This not the correct way to block spammers. By country.

Anyways, the correct forums of yours seems to work just fine

the new test page not. Apparently some elementor miss-configuration? Since the correct forum works corectly with wpforo so i don't see why this is wpforo related?

Thank you for your concern but it would be helpful to hear from someone at WPForo about this page:

https://www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/forum-test/

Note that drilling down into forum content does not preserve the page content not associated with the shortcode.

I would like to understand how this is supposed to work and why, in my case, it does not.

Hi @davidbrown,

Please let me know, what have you done with your forum page? This is totally mixed.

What URL are these:

  • https:// www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/ 518-2/
  • https:// www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/ forum-test/
  • https:// www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/ 518-2/ community-forums/

Why you have three URLs to forum home page?

If you enabled the "Turn WordPress to wpForo" please disable it asap in Dashboard > Forums > Settings > General Tab.

Then remove all those other forum pages. You should have one forum page with the URL path that is set in Dashboard > Forums > Settings > General admin page in the option "Forum base URL".

So, just one page, with [wpforo] shprtcode, with one forum home URL, and nothing else.

1. Go to Dashboard > Pages, delete all trashed pages, make sure the Trashed is empty,

2. In the same page, search for [wpforo] phrase and find all pages. Delete all and only keep the one which has /community-forums/ slug.

3. Make sure the main page doesn't have parent page, it should be the parent page not a child page.

4. If you have a redirection plugin, make sure it doesn't do wrong redirections.

If the header and footer is not fixed, I recommend delete all forum pages and create a new page with new URL path, put [wpforo] shortcode in that page, then navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > general Tab and put that new URL path in the Forum Base URL option. Save it delete all caches then delete wpForo cache in Dashboard > Forums > Dashboard admin page, the button is [Delete All Caches].

@robert

Thank you Robert. I understand what you are driving at. Through my messing around I have created too many versions of my forum pages. I have now deleted every extraneous WP page except the one I wish to keep, currently named "community". The good news is that "community" seems to be working correctly. Next, I want to change its slug to "community-forums".

I have deleted all caches in WPForo as you suggested. I have cleared my cache in my Chrome browser. So the old ./community-forums page should no longer exist.

But it does! See https://www.aroundwoodstockvermont.com/community-forums/

I expected to get a 404 error for this! So that points to my web host still keeping that page on its server.

QUESTION: Is there a setting in WordPress that causes/prevents the deletion of the server file when the WP page is deleted?
