before I go through changing everything to figure it out, what number in the style list is the reply box? I read through it and could find it but mine with and I have dark them so unless I manually change the font color it is invisible

It seems you've already changed something. The dark style of wpForo doesn't have such bug. There should not be with background for replies. Could you please leave a direct link to this topic, so we could inspect the HTML and CSS?

Just to make sure I replied again. I had to have changed the colors that why I was hoping someone knew the number
Please navigate to Dashboard > Forums > Settings > Styles Tab, put this CSS code in the Custom CSS Code textarea, save it, delete all caches and check it again:
#wpforo #wpforo-wrap .wpfl-4 .wpf-child-post .wpf-reply-content{
background-color: #333 !important;
}
