Hi,

I'm considering to install the plugin to integrate comments in the forum and vice versa.
I would like to know how discussions associated with hidden forum categories to specific usergroups are handled. I'm going to explain.

Let's assume that we have a part of the forum accessible only to premium users, and that there are articles on the site only for premium users. When premium users comment on a premium user article these comments will generate a discussion in a forum area only visible to them.
But if this space / discussion of the forum is accessible only to them, is it possible to hide it also on the "article" side? Because if they write in a reserved area of the forum, the contents written here should also be reserved in the other parts of the site.

Is it possible?

Thanks

Alice

Hi @alice79b,

If User who have access to the forum, leave a reply in the topic, User who don't have access to that forum, can see the reply in the post side.

@chris then, is there a way to hide posts on article sides? I mean, instead of comment below the article, showing an invite to comment inside the forum?

Cross posting could consider this issue, imho. If not, for all the forums with hidden areas this plugin can be impossible to use.

@alice79b,

You can use UM plugin to restrict Users by their WordPress User Role,

You can synchronize wpForo Usergroups with WordPress User Roles, so restrict Users by their wpForo Usergroup.

@chris Hi Chris!

UM plugin? Maybe do you mean Ultimate Member?

Actually, I'm using MemberPress as membership plugin and User Role Editor and I can already restrict users by wpForo Usergroup.

The problem is restricting comments below the posts!
At the moment I can't hide comments to specific roles. Only to the guests.
wpDiscuz doesn't allow that.

Could I uninstall wpDiscuz and going back to default comment system?
Maybe in this way I can solve my problem.

@alice79b,

If you are using wpDiscuz plugin, there is an option to restrict a user by their User Role:

@chris My problem is that I don't want to hide comments to a specific user role for every kind of content. wp Discuz is not compatible with MemberPress, this is my issue.
If a post is hidden to no paid members, also comments should be hidden. But if another post is not hidden to no paid members, also that post should be visible to everybody. While I can manage this thing inside forum, I can't with wpDiscuz... 🙁 So I don't know how to handle this problem as I'd like to use crosposting plugin.

@alice79b,

I'm sorry, but the only plugin I know which can hide posts by User Role is Ultimate Members.

@chris I see.

Then, would it be possible to select role permissions for viewing comments within each individual article?

Or alternatively, it would be possible to select the comment form (wpDiscuz) for each article, directly from the article editing page? In this way it would be sufficient to create different forms with different viewing permissions, and use them as needed depending on the article.

It's an idea that would make it possible for me to use wpDiscuz, wpForo and the crossposting plugin.

Thank you

You are talking about UM plugin?

Please ask about this at wpDiscuz Support Forum, Their Support Team can give a correct answer.

@chris I believe I have solved the problem using Elementor. I created a section of the template specifically dedicated to comments and I set the permissions as desired by me. This way I should be able to use crossposting between wpDiscuz and wpForo.
