Hi everyone

Our forums are for paid up members only.

We use an addon called "Paid member Subscriptions".

Recently I tried creating a new sub forum for admins only. A place where us admins can discuss things in private.

It seemed straight forward. Created a new section and marked it as admin access only. All other member types - no access.

Created my new Admin section and a sub section from it.

Something like this (simplified layout):

**************

NEW PRIVATE AREA

- General Chat

**************

Created a new test user account (not admin) and confirmed I could not see my new private section.

Posted something in the new area saying this is an admin section, can you see it?

To my surprise, loads of existing members could see it?!

How do I create a private area/forum within my current forum for admins only?

Thank you.

Hi @wppileyrei,

Have you set no access permission in both Category and Forum?

Hi @chris

Yes I did.

The only thing I didn't do at first was delete all caches.

Wasn't sure why my newly created account could not see it but current standard members could see it. Strange!

Thanks for your reply!

The forums are private and not accessible by the public.

But I am happy to create you a login and send the URL.

Strange. Just resent it. Happy to share details here if we make the topic private.

@wppileyrei,

I have tested the forum, your users should not see the test forum and topics. Can you ask one of the users that sees the test forum and topic to provide a screenshot ? There's maybe something that we have not noticed.

Thank you!

The only thing I did differently than the first time was clear all caches. perhaps thats all it was?

It was a bit embarrassing when everyone could see the new private/admins area. Will revert back.

It could be that the page was cached with the accesses, and then when you changed the accesses, the users were still accessing with the old cached page.

If you have cache plugin, please exclude it from wpForo.
