After clicking the Follow/Unfollow button, the push messages do not disappear.
I was clearing the forum cache, disabling the cache plugin. I came in from the incognito page.
Push notifications disappear by themselves when you log in or create a theme.

added this to our to-do list, would be fixed in the new version.
