Hi,

I made a customized "Read Only" access to my forum for visitors : they can access the forum and see the topics (as a "teaser"), ... but the posts linked to the topics are hidden (see attached image).

The result is that they effectively see every topics, ...but whenever they click on a topic to see the detail, it's a blank screen that is displayed, without any explanation.

Could it be possible to redirect them to a generic message such as : "seeing the posts form a topic is reserved to logged in users. Please login or subscribe to see them" ?

Thanks for your help!

Hi @maxelio42,

Please leave some example URL to allow us to check it.

In case if the users don't have access to the forum it should display the following message:

You don't have permissions to see this page, please register or login for further information

Probably it's somehow not visible because of the text color, or something else.

Here you can find the example:

Hi,

It's very simple, you just have to follow this link :

https://les-castors.fr/community/

, and open any topic you want.

@maxelio42,

Sorry, for the late response.

I made a customized "Read Only" access to my forum for visitors : they can access the forum and see the topics (as a "teaser"), ... but the posts linked to the topics are hidden (see attached image).

We've checked many times and there is no such issue on our test website. Probably you've not correctly assigned the Forum access to the usergroup in the Forum permission section?

Could it be possible to redirect them to a generic message such as : "seeing the posts form a topic is reserved to logged in users. Please login or subscribe to see them" ?

Yes, this is possible. You can use the wpForo admin note/message feature.

The feature allows you to display the message for certain usergroups. It can be found in the Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Misc admin page.

@sofy

I checked, every forum is settled as "Read only access" for guests.

On your advice, I settled an admin note, and it's OK now, see attached image.

The limitation is that you can only publish ONE note, it would be great being able to publish several notes, with different displaying conditions...

I mean, the day I will have to make a different note for other users (warning, ...), I will have to erase the guest note to publish the new one.

Perhaps will it be possible in a future plugin update?...

@maxelio42,

I'll ask the wpForo developers. They'll discuss and add the feature if it is possible.
