in which email user_display_name doesn't work?
I have only see the issue in New Topics Notifications, still it may exist in other places.
While the info from BlackRaz is ok, it is a bit hard to understand what to do and what and where to change.
Or an update will fix this? If not, we have to modify several sites 🙂
We are working on this, but we need an admin permission for a not working website.
As in our forums, wpForo, wpDiscuz, gVectors we didn't get any issues.
We've done lots of testings and didn't find such problem. So, this is a website specific issue and depends on some configuration. Please send the admin login details to support[at]gvectors.com to let us do a deeper debug and find the problem reason.

What codes can you imagine that might be affected?
In the meantime, here are a few more details about my symptoms.
- The shortcode does not work properly in the "New Topic Notification" notification email.
- The problem is with the notification email to the administrator. (I haven't checked with the actual subscribed users yet.)
- The [user_display_name] is not expanded and the shortcode is displayed as is.
- [topic_body] is empty and nothing is displayed.
