Hi, I just installed foro and haven't had any posts yet. However, I'm getting the following Spam flag. Is this right? No one submitted any posts, so not sure why this would be flagged.

Why don't you enable your own tools for Spam? All that chinese Spam could be moderated if "User is New (under hard Spam control) during first [X] posts" was active or something.
Because that crap Spam is useless for SEO but maybe harmful for you. Especially if it is not deleted immediately. |

Hi,
I have followed all recommendations in this helpful "How to stop Spam" post:
Still, I get up to 20 Spam registrations per day.
Settings-General-"Anyone can register" is unchecked, Akismet is enabled, Google reCAPTCHA is enabled, Anti-Spam by CleanTalk is active, New User Approve is installed (which is still a manual task).
Anything else I can do other than removing the forum completely?
Thanks |

Hello Can You Help?
After installing the plugin, there appeared a banner (in orange) requesting the following:
--------------
wpForo has not found any protection solution against Spam user registration on the forum registration form. Please configure and enable the Google reCAPTCHA antibot protection in Tools > Antispam Tab or install other alternative WordPress plugin to avoid registration of Spam users.
-------------
I have added a Spam protection, however I am unable to remove the banner
Can you help? |

Hi @cad-ray-armen,
Thank you fr using wpForo and for contacting us.
Please note: user registration and account creation is a part of WordPress core. wpForo only provides a registration form. You can install and configure any WordPress antispam plugin to protect Spam user registration. This is not the wpForo part, this is the WordPress part.
I'd also suggest you read this article. It also would be helpful for you: |

Hi DaveLandon,
User registration and account creation is a part of WordPress core. wpForo ony provides a registration form. You can install and configure any WordPress antispam plugin to protect Spam user registration. This is not wpForo part, this is WordPress part.
wpForo will care about Spam posting and help a little in user registration protection with builtin reCAPTCHA. These are wpForo antispam solutions:

Hi @dimalifragis,
Actually, wpForo has similar options, you can find that options in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Antispam Tab > New Registered User Field.
One of the best solutions to stop robot Spam is to use reCAPTCHA and/or Akismet |

Hi @kraisor,
There is an option to make user posts approved after x number of posts. There is an option to allow users to add links and attach files after x number of posts. All Antispam options are located in Dashboard > Forums > Tools > Antispam Tab. But before checking these options please read this support topic and make sure you've done all steps of the Spam protection: |

For me, all new users have to have their first 2 posts approve manually by admin. I also have all members need 3 posts to edit profile, and over 20 posts to post a link.
Then, I use Clean talk, this has kept a huge amount of Spam away from my forum. Its very rare i see those kinds of posts now. Try it out mate. You can get awhol eyears cover for like $5, very cheap, very good.
With those two thing sin place, you shouldn't see much Spam. And even if you do, the members of your forum wont see it because you need to approve it first. Then you just delete th ... |

90% of Spam CAN be blocked BEFORE registering/loging in. It is wrong to try to fight Spam and profile Spam, AFTER a user has registered. A waste of time.
I assume you are in the same situation, we are having trouble with the remaining 10%.
For example, if we have 30 Spam registrations daily on our forum, even if we successfully block 27 of them, if we miss 3, those 3 will post a lot of Spam.
I will try the plugin you mentioned tomorrow.
Thanks for your assistance, I appreciate it.We are counting on your advice. |

@robert Do you mean that Akismet + Anti Spam by CleanTalk (paid) is Akismet Anti-Spam is created by Automattic+Anti Spam by CleanTalk (paid)?
Or only Anti-Spam by CleanTalk?
They block the Spam, can they block the register? |
