Previously i suggested a security plugin for your issue, because some plugins also check IPs against a database (cloud) and deny access. And because Spammers (bots or human) are from KNOWN Ips, they will be blocked. Spam and Profiles are imho best to be blocked/prevented at login/registration and not AFTER.

@robert This is not for posts, this is for users who register and Spam their Profiles. I have recaptcha, Askimet, and everything else enabled. I even have Cloudflare security set to high for the forums.

1. @sofy @robert I too have a major concern with this topic. Yes, I have read all the docs, and my wp_users database has different username, nickname, and display_name. BUT wpForo does not use the Display Name as you claim. It uses the very insecure nickname. And like @jcardona I see no way to change this. As @jcardona says, a very BIG privacy/security hole! Can you please review what you have noted and clarify. As the wpForo sync process has added 6,000 members it is not practical to ask all 6,000 to go to their Profiles to make changes. So how do I set Display Name as claimed?? 2. Ref Profiles, we have disabled access to Profiles and admin bars for security on main site, so would like to do same for wpForo profile. Can this be done? Thanks for your time. PS. I have new forum live but hidden, as not able to develop wpForo offline so another security hassle to consider. BUT despite no menu access have already seen bots hacking into wpForo Profiles in my security audit log within hours!!!! 🙁

In the meantime when I check a search I get: If wpForo's "hard Spam control" for new user post moderation is failing, ensure the default usergroup ("Registered") has "Front - Can pass moderation" disabled in Usergroups settings, clear the cache, and ensure the Spam Protection settings (specifically "Posts must be manually approved") are active. Why don't you enable your own tools for Spam? All that chinese Spam could be moderated if "User is New (under hard Spam control) during first [X] posts" was active or something. Because that crap Spam is useless for SEO but maybe harmful for you. Especially if it is not deleted immediately.

Hi, I have followed all recommendations in this helpful "How to stop Spam" post: Still, I get up to 20 Spam registrations per day. Settings-General-"Anyone can register" is unchecked, Akismet is enabled, Google reCAPTCHA is enabled, Anti-Spam by CleanTalk is active, New User Approve is installed (which is still a manual task). Anything else I can do other than removing the forum completely? Thanks

You can install and configure any WordPress antispam plugin to protect Spam user registration. This is not the wpForo part, this is the WordPress part. I'd also suggest you read this article.
