Hi Support 👋Β

I have searched to find other people with this issue, eg:Β

[Solved] Emoji shows as a question mark (2023)

and a solution given here >

[Closed] Emoji does not work (2017)

For my forum, all the emojis have now vanished overnight (and I use a lot of them!) This affects the forum only, as they do display OK in WP, eg: Test PostΒ - shows: This is a testΒ 🍒🍓🫐💜🤗

I'm not looking forward to editing the dbase directly (gulp!) so I wanted to confirm your 2017 solution will fix my issue, before I attempt it!

Thanks 🙏Β

Navigate to Dashboard > wpForo > Tool > Database table, FindΒ wp_wpforo_postsΒ table, and provide a screenshot of it.

Here on IMGUR and embedded below.

Thanks for your quick reply @blackraz (I think we cross-posted)

Digging some more, I located the dbase info as above, but it looks OK to me ? So I'm now unsure if there's anything for me to manually change?

@nutritionchat

In the screenshot, I noticed that the 'wpforo_posts' table fields for 'body' have the correct character set. However, please also check the table's character set.

This seems to be confirmed in my cPanel phpMyAdmin settings:

@nutritionchat,

Please let me know whether the new posts work fine with emojis or not.

Is this an issue only related tot the old posts? Is this form have been migrated from other forum?

Thanks @robertΒ

1) No, new posts do not work fine - they still display question marks

2) Old posts - yes, although strangely the occasional emoji does display OK. When I 'view code' in the edit post, it looks like the emoji info has been lost.

3) No, this forum has not migrated from anywhere, and has been working fine for a couple of years
