We tested as you explained the issue and didn't find this error. You should provide more information in that topic. The " if you post the FIRST topic in an EMPTY forum" doesn't work. There is no such problem even in this case. We couldn't find this. If you find some time please try to generate this issue on a fresh WP/wpForo installation.

It is unbelievable how many new features are included in the free core of wpForo.

Most of the forum engines have these features from the stock. So, I think it is normal that wpForo must have these features in free core.
Some features that I am waiting for:
- Sorting or ordering in Q&A layout based on the number of votes and marked answers
- Changing the author of a topic and/or answer/comment
- Adding a topic on behalf of another user (admin feature)
- Changing an answer to the comment and vice versa (in Q&A layout).
In any way, this is a great update!

Adding a topic on behalf of another user (admin feature)
Sometimes people do not understand how to add a new topic to the forum. They click on top toolbar +Add and add a new blog post. In this case, an option to add a new topic on behalf of another user will be useful. Currently, I do this manually through the database.
