Like some of the others in this forum, I am experiencing very slow response times to most activities in my forum. My test a couple minutes ago is seeing about 17-20 seconds of spinning icon (upper right corner of window) when I post or reply to a post in Safari 13.1 or Chrome 80.0 on a MacBook Pro running OS 10.15.4.

This is consistently the case when I register as a new user, try to reset a lost password, etc.

I deactivated all plugins except the SSL one (Really Simple SSL) and got the same results.

Are you able to tell what's happening and how to fix it? This is a new site with a very small set of beta-testing users. Thanks.

By comparison, response time for the above post was 4 seconds.

This

https://wordpress.org/plugins/query-monitor/

will help you to pinpoint possible slowness.

This most probably is a hosting problem unless your DEBUG LOG shows any errors. Enable it and check.

Following on from Anonymous20's advice here's a wonderfully helpful video that will show you how to use Query Monitor.

In addition, you will learn how to use the Chrome DevTools to show you what site is doing.

I just checked and your site runs fine for me - about 1 second for host to deliver first byte. So your host is a little slow (08:45 GMT) but not bad.

I guess you may be on shared hosting and checking site while others on shared plan are heavily loaded?? DevTools will help you see this.

@richardhkg and @anonymous20 Thanks for the advice. I'll watch the video and see what I can learn.
