Suggestion on how to eliminate/limit Profiles SPAM

A lot of webmasters struggle with fake user registrations just to create Spam Profiles. I see several people here asking for help on that.
There are solutions for Wordpress but i guess most webmasters can't or won't try security plugins, for their own reasons.
So i would like to suggest two OPTIONAL settings for wpForo Profiles.
1. New users can't fill/create a profile unless they participate with XXX posts. Why someone create a profile if he has no posts? The ONLY reason is for Spam link from some other site (backlinks).

Thank you, but this not what i asked. I do not have Spam, i posted that 2 times above.
What i have is around 200-300 fake accounts per day, filling their Profiles. No Spam, just Profiles.
And checking each and every user or profile is out of question (for anyone i guess). Also Profiles can be empty and then changed to whatever.
There are plugins that take care most of my problem (at registration level) BUT require multiple connections with external sources and that is not allowed by company policy. |

Hi,
I've seen somewhere that it could not be possible, but my website (intras.fr) already get hundred of Profiles pages, well referenced. I just have created some forums using the (very good) WPForo plugin, but it creates many new Profiles pages.
My Profiles pages are custom one and I don't want to change them !
Is it possible to create something like "add action" with some function ?

... There is no kicking back and relaxing with this, it requires constant monitoring and tracking and vetting. Vetting; put a simple question on your registration forum that pertains to the niche theme your forum is about or make filling in their general location (state, province, county - which means you need the ability to record or track their IP address); bad actors will lie in those answers every single time. Yes, but all these you should do yourself. People don't like to send lots of time on each user registration. There might be dozens and hundreds of new registered users, so filtering them manually will be a nightmare. We can use automatic Spam filtering tools, which should work with current way of user registration as well. I believe Aksimet paid plans should work fine. If you know better Spam filter services, you can list them here. We'll add them in the FAQ topic.

Recently, they began to register and leave advertising links (URL) in the About me and Signatures section.
You can add functions:1) Disable the ability to leave links (URL) in the About me and Signature section for all users, except for Administrators and Moderators.2) Set a limit on the number of characters that can be entered in the About me and Signature fields.

... unregistered visitors. So, everyone in the forum is individually approved, no Spam control whatsoever is needed.
Unfortunately, it seems like the requirement of wpForo to not do any Spam control and any moderation, is harder to achieve than I thought.
I deactivated wpFoto Spam Control and set the moderation limit to zero posts. I don't even want the first post to be moderated. In the attachment you can see the settings page. It still moderates the first post of any new member. I deactivated Akismet completely, it didn't help.

@robert but this is NOT for Profiles. The problem of the OP is different and we have it also. People registering, post nothing, just Spam their Profiles. |

If you want to fully disable the topic/post moderation, you should do the following settings in wpForo > Settings > Spam Protection admin page:
1. Edit the default usergroups you want in wpForo > Usergroups admin page and ENABLE "Front - Can pass moderation" permission. It should be checked.
2. Go to wpForo > Settings > Spam Protection Tab and update the following options:
Enable wpForo Spam Control: No
Ban user when Spam is suspected: No Spam Suspicion Level for Topics: 0 Spam Suspicion Level for Posts: 0

... emails. As someone register via plugin "Participants Database" the webmaster receives a notification. Also the admins or forum owners receive notifications when "Notify Admins via email on new Post/Topic" is switched on.
Receiver is the same sender. Make sure the "From Email" (Forums > Settings > Email) is not the same subscriber email.
Sender is "webmaster" and receiver is subscriber with own email address.
If the "From Email" domain doesn't have website domain name (e.g.: info@gmail.com, but website is example.com) it may tracked as Spam, you ... |
