Akismet is for comments and contact Spam protection. Not for Profiles.
I'd like to request that you add in the ability of a moderator to manually Spam a forum post and the Spam posts be put into their own queue for us to look at. Un-approving a post is fine for posts that contain unwanted content but how do we train the Spam filters if we don't have a way to Spam a forum post?
Akismet is missing Spam and we'd like a way to better track that it so we can enter in the offenders to Forum Censor Pro as well as adjust our firewalls to block the Spammers before they pollute our forums.
Thanks,
Kim
Greetings - I am completely new to wpForo. During setup, I noticed the message "Akismet is not installed! For an advanced Spam Control please install Akismet antispam plugin, it works well with wpForo Spam Control system. Akismet is already integrated with wpForo. It'll help to filter posts and protect forum against Spam attacks." displayed on the 'Antispam' tab in the 'Forum Tools' section. I agree that this message is accurate: I uninstalled Akismet as soon as I installed WordPress, and instead installed CleanTalk Anti-spam.

Hi @srtalop, @ewscos,
Please note: user registration and account creation is a part of WordPress core. wpForo only provides a registration form. You can install and configure any WordPress antispam plugin to protect Spam user registration. This is not wpForo part, this is WordPress part.
wpForo will care about Spam posting and help a little in user registration protection with builtin reCAPTCHA. These are wpForo antispam solutions:
New Topic / Post Moderation1. Option to keep topics and posts unapproved until the admin is not reviewed and approved. If a s ...
wpForo + Cache is ready!
The last 1.2.0 version was the Spam killer version. And this 1.3.0 version is designed to increase wpForo performance and make it super fast. Now wpForo can be used for forums with extremely large databases.
wpForo 1.3.0 with built-in Cache System
You don't even need to use other cache plugins for wpForo. wpForo builtin cache system is based on three different logics of caching, which procures high performance and super low SQLs started from second load of each forum page:
Object Cache (caches items and objects, decreases number o ...

Hi I have a forum at kellymartinspeaks.co.uk and my bandwidth keeps getting exceeded because I am having a lot of dodgy bots creating Profiles and linking the profile to their sites. I've never had a forum before and never had this happen on my website prior to the forum and it could ruin my site reputation. I had a lot of casino ones recently, how do I delete them ban them as a group? Is there anything in settings where I can ban certain emails? Or stop people having Profiles but the ability to just post on forum? I've got thousands and not the time to get rid of them all page by page...even bulk deleting them only deletes one page at a time of them.

Yeah i have akismet enabled, but when real users are posting Profiles that is difficult.
i have disabled guests from viewing Profiles which will at least stop the search engines and anyone else seeing unless they are logged in, i think this will be enough for the moment
@zygzak, Yes, it is possible to add a city field to user Profiles in wpForo by using the wpForo User Custom Fields addon. This addon allows you to add custom fields to user Profiles, including a city field. You can then display this information in posts or user Profiles by editing the appropriate template files and using the custom field code.
You can find more about this addon and its usage here: If you need to add or manage custom fields, purchasing and installing this addon is required as the free wpForo plugin does not support adding custom user profile fields by default.

@verek I use that plugin Zero Spam as well, and it is absolutely effective at killing Spam, you don't need to pay for the premium version to have excellent protection btw.
Another plugin which is exceptional against Spam is called User Verification, both plugins combined have been effective combating %100 Spam registrations and Spam comments on one of the blogs I manage which was being absolutely bombarded by those.
