You can add new category or forum in Dashboard > wpForo > Forums admin page. There are two ways to add a new category/forum. First is the regular [Add New] button located on the top of this admin page:
The way above is good if you’re adding a top/parent category.
If you are going to add a new Forum or subForum it would be easier and fast if you use [+] icon-button located on the right side of each forum panel. Using this button, you’re adding a new forum directly under a Category (blue panel) or Parent Forum (gray panel) you need. The new forum will be set as a child to this forum automatically.
Add/Edit Forum Screen
You can see forum add/edit screen once you clicked the either [Add New], [+] or [Edit] buttons.
It displays different options if you choose whether the current forum is the top level forum or not. The top level of forums, called categories, and they define the layout of all child forums. Also, the categories can be displayed with background image:
Forum Icon
In “Forum Icon” section, you can change default forum icons using font-awesome icon library. The default icon is “fa-comments”. You can find all icons here. Make sure you insert a class of font-awesome icon, it should start with fa- prefix like “fa-comments”.
Forum Permissions
In “Forum Permissions” section you can set individual Forum Access for each Usergroup. The default configuration is this:
Forum slug
Forum slug/permalink will be generated based on forum title once you click on [Publish] button. If you want to insert custom slug, you should enable “Forum Slug” section in top “Screen Options” area.
Publish Forum
Once you’re finished with all options, you just need to click on [Publish] button located in right sidebar. If a category (blue panels) does not have forums (gray panels) it will not be displayed on the front-end. Each category should contain at least one forum. Forums will be available immediately on front end (if you don’t have cache plugins).
Forum Editing and Changing the Display Order
You can edit Categories and Forums using [pencil] icon-button located on right side of each forum panel in Dashboard > Forums > Forums admin page.
Click on this button and do the changes you need using “add/edit forum screen” options.
Don’t use this button if you just need to change forum parent or order. You can do that on this page by dragging and dropping forum panels. Then save changes using [Save forums order and hierarchy] button located on the bottom of this page.
